Project Background
About the Project
The City of La Porte is creating an integrated comprehensive land use and transportation plan to create a proactive, forward-looking vision to guide decision-making and support the City's growth and development over the next two decades. Through extensive community engagement and land use analysis, a final development framework will be produced, addressing the pattern and character of growth, location and intensity of development types, protection and preservation of natural resources and historical features, and necessary amendments to public policy.
In 2024, the City of La Porte hired Rundell Ernstberger Associates (REA) to lead the plan update. REA is a planning and landscape architecture firm with offices in Indianapolis and Louisville. Lochmueller Group, an engineering firm based in Evansville, will also lead the transportation and infrastructure elements and support land use planning and community engagement efforts.
Project Scope
This project's scope is to create a Land Use and Transportation Plan for the City of La Porte. REA will facilitate a forward-thinking, high-level, aspirational process to gather data and public input to inform policy direction. This plan will be developed with robust and inclusive community involvement, professional expertise, and an appropriate use of technology and digital methods.
